Does anyone know any reasonably priced researchers in the Croydon area who can search electoral records for me from 1923-1947? I live in Inverness so travelling there not really an option. Thanks for any help.

How about contacting East Surrey FHS?

http://www.eastsurreyfhs.org.uk/

Looking for an address would be relatively easy; searching for a name (21 or over) would be very time consuming.
Remember that there wouldn't be an ER during WW2 ie 1939-1945

Staff at Croydon library have in the past checked an address ( 1950s ) and told me who else was there, besides a person whose death cert. I had just bought.

They might be willing to check an address in a particular year for you, because that is how books are arranged, ie. by town, Parliamentary ward ( eg. town, south ward etc ) then street.

They are not surname indexed.

Surrey ER for this period are on Ancestry - searchable.
In England anyway public libraries have Ancestry which can be used free of charge. I assume it is the same in Scotland.

there you go

Looks to me that Croydon is only on ancestry from 1963-65 when they included Greater London

Surrey ERs are on Ancestry supposedly to 1945 . Not sure if they include Croydon or not.
