from "Last of the Summer Wine" the character of retired milkman Luther Hobdyke (Hobbo) played by Russ Abbot would fit the bill :-D

bob - some interesting definitions in the Urban Dictionary for clegg and words associated with it, especially one about something that you use a spanner to loosen :-D

maggiewinchester - I must remember to buy an insect spray :-D

Mayfield - are you suggesting Nick Clegg is a day-dreamer who lives in his own world of fantasies :-D

Mayfield

Ben Stiller, he's already played the character Walter Mitty, so well prepared ;-)

I always thought a 'clegg' was a horsefly.

Horseflies: are often not deterred by attempts at swatting them away, and will generally persist in attacking until they secure their quarry or are killed. Many often will give chase to their intended targets for a short time.

Yup, sounds like young Nick. :-D :-D

Perhaps it should be a cartoon - with Clegg as a cleg :-D

I have just looked up Clegg on Urban Dictionary. Clegg, verb, to betray everything you once stood for in a dash of opportunism......
Cleg, with one "g", is even more apposite, but far too rude to repeat on here. Look it up. Bob

The newspapers and the media seem to be enjoying the prospects that Nick Clegg the leader of the Liberal Democrat's part in forming the coalition is to become the basis of a television film to be shown on Channel 4, the film is presently titled “Coalition” but tweeters have suggested alternative titles, such as "Liar Liar" and "Nightmare on Downing Street"

They are also tweeting who they think should play Nick Clegg, four years ago Nick Clegg revealed that if a film was ever to be made about his life he would like Nicholas Lyndhurst who was Rodney in Only Fools and Horses to play him.

I think the "character" of Rodney would be ok, as would the "character" of Del Boy or Private Pike in Dad's Army. As to the title, my suggestion would be "Trust Me I Am A Politician"

Who would you choose to play Nick Clegg and what would you call the film?
