You are right Maggie.
Most people are accepting the challenge and donating too.

However, it is raising awaremess of MND.
I did have an understanding of fMotor Neuron Disease, but did not know that there were 5 different types or that ALS is the most common form.

This is what the Ice Bucket Challenge is all about...raising awareness!

Lots of people on my FB wall are doing it too.
I thought you either did the challenge OR donated. People seem to be taking the cold soaking AND donating :-S

More power to their hypothermia :-D

Of course it is easy enough to donate to charities .But this is one of the Illness's that many people are still unaware of.So 'Absurd Antics', if it gets the message across is all good with me.I don't care how stupid something might seem as long as it raises much needed funds for research and care .When my Dad was suffering from MND there was very little knowledge of how to manage and help people with it.
So I take my hat off to anyone taking part in The Ice Bucket Challenge.Thankyou <3

It should be possible to donate money to charity without the absurd antics of an American ginger group and Comic Relief to name but two. I certainly manage it ok using tax efficient direct payments.

In any case with the chilly weather the local supermarket has stopped selling bags of crushed ice and the fridge/freezer can only make a little at a time which I need for other purposes.

My sis-in-law in Florida has just nominated me - OK for her, it's blimmin freezin here.

Lost a much loved friend to motor neurone disease so happy to do whatever.

It is a bit sad that Macmillan have jumped on the bandwagon.

OH and I have both been nominated!
We can't do within the 48 hours but will do it next weekend in Florida.
We will make our donations in advance anyway!

Just watched son doing it of FB wearing his Spongebob pyjamas ( he is 25)..

hilarious, then he nominated 3 more friends to do it..great to see all these young people having so much fun raising money for a worthy cause.. :-D

He and his friends have donated to "ALS Association", a charity researching Motor Neurone disease.

.OUR MISSION: Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

It's a shame Macmillan Nurses charity have tried to appropriate it for themselves.

They have paid google and facebook to make sure their challenge appears first in searches. Very shabby behaviour from one of the richest charities in the UK.

Not one penny more from me.

I have donated to MND, however, without getting wet.

Well Done Mistycat.
I know I will have to do it soon

I was in B&Q earlier and there are staff at the door asking if you have taken part yet.
If not you will need your bucket for £1.... talk about cashing in!
(They are not being sold to raise funds)

Edit:
Just had a peek at FB.
My eldest daughter and her BF have been nominated which means me and OH will be next.
We're off on holiday at the end of the week so we all need to do the challenge before then.
(On the other hand.... we could do it in sunny Florida?)

If I'm asked, I'll donate cash :-)

If a bucket of ice was tipped over me, I think I'd die of shock. :-(
