Thank you Everyone :-) :-)

I was a bit worried it was a virus!

I shall read up on it, and decide whether or not to uninstall. I will probably not have use for it, but I can see it would be useful to some people.

Thanks
Jem :-)

In Windows 7 - go to Control Panel, select Programs and Features, right click on program you want to remove and select Uninstall.

Dropbox is one of several utilities which allow you to store data, videos, music, anything else you want in "the cloud" and access it from somewhere else. The Dropbox folder behaves as if it were a disk drive. Stuff can be shared and others can drop stuff in your box if you give them permissions. It is especially useful for accessing stuff from a mobile phone. Google, Microsoft offer similar functionality. All of these utils also mean you have a backup. Dropbox will work on any OS.

AVAST ( good choice ) and others bundle stuff such as Dropbox for which they get a fee - nothing is really ever free!

Dropbox had a problem with taking 99% cpu at times but they seem to have fixed it. If you never need to share files with somebody else or access yr home cimputer files from say a mobile then you have no need of it. Otherwise it can be very useful especially with family history. You get about 2 GB for free.

I'm hoping that somebody knowledgeable about computers can advise me please!

I have AVAST free virus protection. Last night, an Avast Box came up saying the free virus protection wasn't fully updated.

I clicked it off, a little nervous, not wanting to click buttons on a pop up box.

I clicked on the Avast symbol on my computer, and it had ticks to 2 basic protections and 2 further things said to click here. (I can't remember the exact wording now)

I clicked expecting to see some explanation or options, but it immediately started downloading.
Then it said I had to reboot the computer.

I now have something called DROPBOX.

My Avast symbol now revolves alternatively Orange and Blue. The appearance of the information is now different and I had a DROPBOX Shortcut which I panicked and tried to delete, which resulted in only getting rid of the Shortcut, not the Dropbox.

SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS?

Can anyone advise me please? But in very simple terms as I am not brilliant with computers / computer terminology!

Thanks
