OneFootInTheGrave Report 28 Aug 2014 07:58

The Independent newspaper is reporting that at least three senior officials employed by Rotherham Council during the period covered by the inquiry now hold senior positions at other local authorities and continue to work in areas related to childcare.

If there is evidence, that any official at Rotherham Council involved in the protection of children, was in office during the period covering, what must be one of Britain's worst child abuse scandals, those individuals should resign - NOW :-|

Calls for heads to roll are being met by deaf ears.

The man who is the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) for South Yorkshire (before becoming the PCC he was the councillor on Rotherham Council in charge of children's services and also sat on the Police Authority of South Yorkshire Police) has today made it clear that he has no intention of standing down from his position of PCC - this despite calls for him to quit over what happened on his watch in relation to child abuse in Rotherham.

He said he felt let down by the report and that the scale of the problem in Rotherham had come as a surprise to him and that, had he known then, what he knows now, he could have done more.

Is this man, the man who was the councillor in charge of children's services at Rotherham Council from 2005 to 2010, seriously asking the public to believe he did not know what was going on during his watch and that it is OK in the light of this report for him to remain in charge of a police force - why is is that so many people on taking up a senior position in public services seem to move immediately to another planet :-S

OneFootInTheGrave Report 27 Aug 2014 11:22

Sexual abuse of young people has allegedly taken place at, the Haut de la Garenne children’s home, the Kincora boys’ home in Northern Ireland, the Bryn Estyn children’s home in North Wales, and the Elm Guest House in South West London, and these are only a few of those that we know about

The whole background to these allegations and the way they were dealt with, stinks to high heaven, of conspiracy, duplicity, and cover-up after cover-up, by those in the highest echelons of our society, Parliament, Church, Police, Security Service, and many other organisations.

Just over 7 weeks ago, the Home Secretary Theresa May, announces two inquiries into child sexual abuse, one headed by Peter Wanless the chief executive of the NSPCC is reported to have started it's work.

We have not heard much about the other enquiry which was tasked with examining the extent to which public institutions failed to investigate allegations of child abuse, since Lady Butler-Sloss resigned as chair of that enquiry - to date (someone will correct me if I am wrong) I think that a new chairperson has yet to be appointed. .

My message to the Home Secretary Theresa May is - for goodness sake get your finger out, there must be a suitably qualified person in this country who is not directly linked to "The Establishment" that can chair this enquiry.

These issues are not going to go away, they must be fully investigates without fear of favour to anyone and I mean anyone as no one is above the law, the public have a right to know what went on and what is more important, is those that were passed from pillar to post like a piece of furniture - need some sort of closure to the ordeals they suffered at the hands of others!

From what has been published elsewhere the police, when they found them drunk, were treating the children as the criminals, not as victims!
Even when parents were trying to stop the abuse, SS were trying to tell them that it was OK for young teenagers to be sexually active, and that they were the ones out of touch.

A quiet word of advice with the parents/guardians might be in order too.

This could well be just the tip of an iceberg and we do not know how large that iceberg is - how many towns the size of Rotherham or larger are there in the United Kingdom :-(

A report published today has found that about 1,400 children were subjected to "appalling" sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

Children as young as 11 were raped by multiple perpetrators, abducted, trafficked to other cities in England, beaten and intimidated it said.

The report was commissioned by Rotherham Borough Council in 2013.
