I've bitten my tongue long enough!

PSD, and others, hospitals are not prisons!

As far as I am aware this child was not a ward of court, nor was the child with foster parents.

The child's parents had every right to remove her (him?) from hospital.

I am not going to go into the rights and wrongs of refusing the child treatment, but into the principle of the whole thing.

Why should a 'Guard' be put on the room or the parents 'tagged' just because their beliefs clash with what many believe is 'normal'

Who is to judge what is best for the child without any sort of legal process....the parents!!

Having had my rant, I do wish all the best for Aysha and hope that any treatment works...but without the added stress

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 1 Sep 2014 04:08

I got the impression several hours (more than a couple ) passed before this situation was brought into the open.

I feel sad for the family but especially little Ashya who must be so frightened to be away from his family. It's at a time like this he needs his loved ones around him. It can't do him any good to be alone in a strange place especially if he can't speak Spanish.

Surely some way could be found for the police to let them be together now and sort out the legalities later, a guard could be put on the room so he can't be 'stolen' again or the father and mother could be tagged or something. They shouldn't be kept apart at this time. If his older brother could be with him it would be some sort of comfort, how unfeeling the police are being to separate him from those he loves and trusts.

Hope there is a better outcome soon

I think that the parents were allowed to take him off the ward. That is why he was on a "battery operated" feeder.

Perhaps while on the ward his feeder was pluged into the mains.

Maybe they were not expected bac right away - so a couple of hours or so away from the ward would not have raised any alarm bells.

I hope that this is sorted soon with the best possible outcome for this lovely little boy.

Perhaps the parents didn't actually ask for permission just in case it was refused!

I don't know how I would have reacted if I was in their shoes.
But hopefully they can spend time with their son.
Being seperated from his family cannot be good for him.

TThe news reports say terminal which would sound to me like theres not a lot of hope for the poor lad anyway so why the hell does it matter where he is as long as hes happy and with his mum and dad

Many sides to this.
Surely the priority is the health of the child.
It is suggested that the parents also took hospital equipment when they left the Hospital.
Only time will tell whether or not there are any rights or wrongs.

Sue I don't think hospitals care any more
let alone notice somebody's missing
our chest nurse went into hospital for a breast op
the next night after her op
she went down to the desk
and asked why they hadn't been to check on her all day or give her any food

and they said opps we forgot you where there :-( :-(

my thought are with the small child :-D

Well it took the hospital 6 hours to report him missing to the police,,
So why leave it so long.surely one of the staff must have noticed him missing from his bed...

the proton therapy targets only the problem area whereas chemotherapy can affect other areas of the body

presumably there would passport checks?

Linda

Linda Report 31 Aug 2014 14:12

Well I think they were wrong after all the police have said that it is not a crime to take him out of the hospital, it just does not make any sence to me, but I'm glad he's been found

PatinCyprus Report 31 Aug 2014 13:47

It doesn't make sense, father states he wants proton beam therapy instead of radiation therapy. Proton beam therapy is radiation????? It is a better at directing the radiation from what I've read about it and will soon be in UK.

Father states he's going to find the money for the treatment but how long has the boy got with no treatment, he could deteriorate very quickly.

The police are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

It's a very sad state of affairs. :-(

my heart goes out to the parents and siblings of this lovely little boy - they only took him out of the UK to get specific treatment which he was not receiving over here - why oh why have they been arrested
