Best of luck Sharron, stick to your guns but don't try to go it alone - get in touch with agencies who can help you, CAB or similar Has your Doctor's surgery got anyone who will help? I once had to appeal at a tribunal over benefit when my son was young, and I got the backing of my local Councillor - he was brilliant.

Do you not have any help/advice centres in your area.

I live in Greenwich and the place I used was fantastic. If it had not been for their help I would never have got my disability benefit. I was very lucky in one aspect in that one letter from the DWP actually stated a blatent lie on their part which I was able to confirm with my doctor. Boy were they embarassed.

As I had no way of travelling to Croydon for my assessment, I even had a home visit. And despite all the truly bad experiences of most people, the Doctor who came to see me (and yes she was a qualified doctor) was a lovely Irish girl.

I now get Full Mobility and the minimum Care/Attendance.

So I now have a Mobility Car, what a godsend, no tax, insurance, or service fees. For which I give up my Mobility allowance. And the other money helps with the petrol. Without my car I would be either totally housebound or reliant on taxis or the generosity of family and friends.

Sharron if you need any advice or help with wording any letters do PM me, I can let you know what I put in my letters. Every little helps. :-)

Sharron <3 best of luck in your battles with the bureaucrats - I don't envy the challenges you will face going down that long and winding road.

Today I embark upon the adventure of finding out how to appeal the decision to close our benefit claim.

I will also be learning how to deal with the housing association about the rent once I have dealt with the council concerning the housing benefit to which I don't think I am now entitled.

No doubt I will also be learning how to make another claim somewhere along the way.

Big Issue anybody?
