Hopefully someone will give the dear little girl the love and care her Mother denied her. Sadly we do not know what goes on behind closed doors, how could anyone know and ignore this sort of abuse is something I find difficult to understand.

People like this are extremely devious - apparently she removed the lead when there was a chance of anyone seeing it. It seems she even kept her behaviour from her husband.
As unbelievable as it sounds no-one would have suspected any wrong doing. Children are persuaded to keep quiet through fear, tracks are covered and there is always a 'plausible' explanation from the perpetrator if anything seems amiss.
Observers often think they have imagined things or are persuaded that they have got it wrong.
Tragically, this monstrous behaviour goes on unnoticed.

They are indeed and, of course, people really don't want to imagine that a mother would, or even could, behave in such a manner so they think they have misinterpreted anything they see.

How true Dermot.

People who have lived within doors of me while I was growing up are still amazzed and, I think, disbelieving of me, when I tell them how it was when I was growing up.

That woman was adept at hiding the evidence so, like my own mother, she knew she was doing wrong but she was also leading the little girl to believe that it was all her own fault so the little girl would be doing her all to hide the evidence for fear of further punishment.

There was a recent report about how little we really know of our immediate neighbours.

This disgraceful episode may be just one thread of 'minding my own business' attitude & walking on by.

Very sad! But I’m just surmising from a distance.

Hope she comes out scarred for life in more ways than one, I am sure if other women can get to her they will show her what it feels like to be abused and scared.

I hope her daughter gets the right support and care to recover as much as she can, sadly sometimes being in care isn't all it should be so she might go off the rails which would be heartbreaking.

Some women aren't fit to be mothers and should be sterilised.

Only two years?

That child is likely scarred for life.

It is said we carry the scars of childhood with us for life - how true.

It is indeed justice of a sort at last. Did no-one notice her behaviour before?
I hope her daughter is recovering as much as she can. xx

That woman who was given a suspended sentence for physically and psychologically abusing her young daughter for a period of years, including walking her to school on a dog lead, has had her suspended sentence reviewed and now she is doing two years inside.

Result!

This sentence gives me a feeling of some personal satisfaction and a bit of hope for the future for all the other children who are having to cope alone with this sort of treatment.

They really are children of courage.
