My o.h. took a mini video of me swinging, he is heard to say Those swings aren't meant for over 18s, and I answered, that means 18 stone so I am ok.

I have been known to try out swings in parks in the past and almost getting stuck as they are so narrow, even a chunky child would be hard put to sit comfortably on them.

So pleased that you find the lounger so comfortable GP.

Are you getting the (free) hot or cold drinks too?

About the SLIDE we need (want) one that is easy to get to the top - no strenuous movements required. It should all be done for us!

A ball pool would be good too. So behavour yourself or the ball pool will be emptyed in your direction. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Sue, I have never used a Hot Tub is it okay if I share it with you?

Liz, I am too heavy to use regular swings. (Otherwise I would) Hence the need for a special one.

I bet I can swing higher than you :-P

Ann. will you join us on the swings? :-) :-) :-)

Ann - It will be worth every penny. I'm the "Talented Engineer" she has mentioned to design and build a slide. Can't wait to see who makes it to the top gasping for air. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

You are welcome, Tess, I too would love a play on one of those but not sure where they are if any round here and don't seem to find time for this sort of thing. I would never dare set foot in a gym, would feel such a fool.

There is a children's playarea behind the cottage we stayed at in Tideswell and I had a little swing there, o.h. took a pic as proof lol Shows how unfit I am as I got puffed after a few minutes of working myself to go higher. We should be going back later this month so will have to have a bit more playtime lol

Liz,
Thanks for letting us know about the existing "Pensioner Playgrounds" I hadn't known about them.

If there were any such playgrounds near me (and free) I would love to use them.
Have tried a local gym a few years ago , but it was always very busy, full of young fit (or getting fit) people. So not too keen on going back. Especially as I am now heavier and slower.

I would really like to play on the swings though - and have some fun in a paddling pool and a sand pit.

Perhaps I will have to settle for "being a steam train" as I walk about in my house (where noone can see me).

Some places do have these playgrounds, with adult sized things to help older people get a bit of exercise. They always look good fun but I bet most of them get vandalised late at night by young people. A shame as it would be good to share them with pensioner times and then younger people's times for use.

Have a look at this, in Hyde Park. http://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/hyde-park/facilities-in-hyde-park/hyde-park-senior-playground

Seems there are others, I googled pensioner parks in uk and several places came up.

Some decent wooden benches with thick padded cushions

Wooden tables with no sharp corners to take the cups of tea we bought at the cafe.

I am thinking of writing to my local council to request that they supply a Pensioner Playground.

It would need:-

SWINGS wider, deeper and stronger than those used by children. Would also need a back support.

SAND PITS Raised off the floor so that people could play and create while sitting down. Plentiful supply of moulds (various shapes) buckets, spades and pattern makers also required.

PADDLING POOL - Long a narrow - possibly horse-shoe shaped. Hand rails on one side and some seats on the other. Wide enough so that twp zimmers/walking frames can pass each other without difficulty.

ROCKING BENCH Somewhere to meet friends, old and new. Where we could gently rock while chatting and putting the world to rights.

TALENTED ENGINEER - who could design and build a slide, suitable for those of us with limited gross motor ability.

A SELECTION OF FIRE ENGINES, TRAINS AND RACING CARS ETC. Adult size with steering wheels and pedals. Sound effects not essential as we can make our own noise!

A CAFE nearby, where we can buy "a nice cup of tea" which would be bought to us.

LARGE BASKET BALL OR NET BALL HOOP. Not too high - with a plentiful supply of balls.

Please support me in this endevour.

Any other ideas for inclusion in the Pensioner Playground greatfully accepted.
