Sharron - try honey instead of maple syrup.

I've had a bottle of maple syrup for years (it's way past the bbf date) it's a bit runny, but still OK.

I had some of the mousse earlier, also fed some to DH........ dipped strawberries in it, YUM :-D...... and yes, he complained!

I forgot to say........ after I made the first one, I stuck the avocado stone in a pot.... I now have a tiny shoot! I'll have to find out how long it will take to grow into a fruit-producing tree. :-D

Jeez - them Aztecs have a lot to answer for. Cacao beans aren't the same as cocoa :-P Remind your OH that the Aztecs did ritual human sacrifices.

Then again, they only used virgins :-D

I am hiding away from everything at the moment, including the marrows.

Also don't have any maple syrup. which looks like it might be crucial, and certainly can't afford to buy any!

I think anything made with squash needs pushing through a sieve after it has been through the bug-blinder, including butternut soup,, or the texture is simply wrong.

Sharron ~ I made one last week, using pumpkin. YUK!! It may have worked if I had mashed the pumpkin instead of whooshing it in the food processor, but it was like a thick milkshake. Not nice at all. Have you tried marrow yet?

I've got another one sitting in the fridge that I made this morning... with avocado!

DH ate some of the first one, said it was nice. I told him there was avocado in it, and he didn't eat any more. :-S So the one in the fridge is MINE, ALL MINE! :-D :-D

8.10pm, and we've just finished dinner.

When we tasted the "mousse" earlier, we only had about a teaspoon each.

I put three dessertspoons in my bowl, and it was too much! I love chocolate, but this beat me.

I think it would be OK, a little bit, with fruit (raspberries or strawberries) & cream, or as Sharron thought, a filling in a cake. Spread it on with a trowel lol

:-)

Sharron ~ let me know how your experiment with marrow turns out.

The longer it sits, the stiffer it gets! I think I could plaster a wall with it.

DH tried it, asked if there was coffee in it..... no, but there's avocado......... I don't think he believed me.

btw........ avo's aren't expensive around here, I got a bag of three medium size ones for just over $3.

If I make it again I'll put a splash of brandy or whisky in it.

:-D

I wonder if you could do that with marrow.

It could be a cake filling at a push I reckon.

It's been sitting in the fridge for a while..... and it's gone solid!

Tastes OK, but I wouldn't call it a mousse.

More like an elk.

chocolate mousse, using avocadoes :-D

It's more like a pudding than a mousse, but it was very quick to make, and would be suitable for anyone who is lactose intolerant, especially if you use vegan chocolate.

DH hates avocado, so I won't tell him what's in it :-D

2 large avocadoes
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1/3 cup coconut cream
150gr dark chocolate (70%) melted

Cut avocadoes in half & remove the stone. Scoop out the flesh into bowl of food processor. Add the cocoa powder, vanilla, maple syrup & coconut cream. Process for about 10 seconds. Scrape down the sides and process 10 seconds. Add the cooled, melted chocolate. Process 10-15 seconds until smooth. Spoon into serving dishes.

:-)

The can of coconut cream was a lot more than I needed, so I googled & found out it can be frozen, for up to 3 months.
