I'm afraid most politicians are on another planet, I do wonder if Mr Clegg is in another universe.

Memories tend to fade away like drifting snow.

Year-end review programmes on radio/TV often jog my memory of important events of the year which have just slipped my mind - not least politicians' pointless pre-election promises.

Why stop the winter fuel payment for pensioners living abroad??
They have winter where they live too, they have to have qualified for the payment before they left the UK(although I believe this rule has changed in the last couplke of years) they have all paid into the system & should have the same entitlement as pensioners living in the UK.
Will pensioners living in Scotland lose theirs if Scotland becomes independant???
Most pensioners who live abroad, at least in the EU still have the right to vote in the UK. Worth remembering.

young people don't travel by bus except in London. If Clegg wants a wizzo scheme for the under 25s he could take an axe to car insurance. As it is he needs to get out more. Topper.

That will be a real vote winner with those who do vote - Pensioners

These politicians just do not have a clue. They live in cloud cuckoo land.....

He might win over the young people but he will surely lose the old people.

Many of us struggled through ( or are still struggling) through various periods in our lives with no particular help. Now that we are retired members of govt. want to take away 'perks' that help us.

We paid for ourselves and now we are to pay for others - not fair :-P

what they need to cut is
the winter fuel allowance for anybody not living in his country

OneFootInTheGrave Report 8 Sep 2014 14:41

Young people aged 16-21 would get a 66% discount on bus travel in England under Liberal Democrat plans that have been outlined by Nick Clegg.

The scheme would be paid for by cutting the winter fuel allowance and free TV licence's for better-off pensioners.

Nick Clegg said "The Young Person's Bus Pass - will ensure that young people looking to access education or training can do so in an affordable way, and I hope that bus companies will top up that discount to something even more generous."

Does he really think that, young people who are eligible to vote in the next General Election, will vote for him after he reneged on the promise he made on tuition fees before the last election?
