Bobtanian, your post reminded me of my late neighbour, when she was in her 70's she would still sit on the windowsill with her legs inside and her body outside to clean her upstairs sash windows. I nearly had heart failure the first time I saw her doing it!

Thank you for your response.

I will take a look locally, but as it is for mother-in-law in Hampshire, I will make a note of shops mentioned by Maggie and Chris too.

Many thanks.

Gwyn

We found it so hard to get some years ago, we ended up painting ours in a similar red.

Obviously since then the manufacturers have reaslised that people still want this product, about time.

takes I back! a long way,

don't see housewives wearing pinnies and turbans, polishing the doorstep or sitting on the windowsill cleaning the outside windows any more......

I remember my Mum putting that on the concrete flooring in our first council house, well our only council house, we were allocated a brand new one when I was just 2 and a bit and my brother was newborn. It was a really big room and she couldn't afford carpets for a long time, just had rugs, including rag rugs Dad made.

It must have been very hard work, and maybe it rubbed off on our clothes if we played on the floor altho it would have been rather cold I think. So many years ago now, I can't recall.

Hello Gwyn I tried to buy Cardinal red polish a while ago but couldn't find it anywhere I ended up buying Tableau red polish from Robert Dyas...it seems to be the same.

Hi Gwyn,
Still available :

http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/tableau-red-tile-polish-250ml

'resistant to rain in 24hrs'.

If it wasn't available there, I would have suggested the wonderful D & G Hardware in St Georges St Winchester.

I have been asked to get some polish to put on red quarry tiles and wonder if the old fashioned polish is..
a) still available....or
b) whether a new better product is preferable.

Area is an outside, semi-sheltered open porch at the front door.
Although not catching full force of any rain, it is likely to become wet at least in part, so must have a safe surface for postmen etc.

Anyone with similar tiles, who can advise please?

Gwyn
