I wrote this 40 years ago today,,a couple of months after recovery from a breakdown...
DEPRESSION COMES...
Descending like a cloud, enveloping all joy,
Depression comes.
Nights longer than days as loneliness prevails,
Boredom comes..
Hell is not far away it seems
As pleasant dreams become nightmares..
Comfort and security gone..
The black night becomes frightening,
Emptiness comes..
I cry out for help,,I get a silent reply,,
Depression comes..
Surrounded by this loneliness,
Boredom comes..
A day is dawning, all bright and gay,
Yet I am in a cage and no way out..
I am weakened,the weakness dies..
My strength and faith submit to tortures,
Depression comes..
I lay awake through the night and wait,
Still no answers appear..
Fate plays cruel games with me as
Depression comes....

After 3 years or so on Librium I was classed OK....No problems since....LES <3 <3

Bless you Les, that's a very descriptive poem. I am so glad you came through those dark clouds. Your first line is apt, our Joy is very low at the mo, has been for some time. She nearly moved from Buckingham to live nearer her son but changed her mind so is having some decorating done at her little bungalow. She is having carpet put down as she finds the laminated flooring (for which she ripped out carpets a few years back) too cold feeling. Don't know if I will get a chance to visit her this year, but if so will bring her to see you and Aud again.

Hope all is ok with you both
