Liz it is magic - you can sing/dance to silly songs, go down a slide (best to have a child on your lap), put on wellies and jump in puddles, swing, have picnics (if weather bad) spread blanket on lounge floor and lock dog out. Take them for their first visits to zoo and non performing animal circus. First ride on double decker bus and train - there is sooooooooo much as for g.mother's behaviour - 'well one is merely keeping the child occupied'.

Be careful what age you begin to bake gingerbread men. Have photo of g.dau about 15 mths old on counter sticking currants on and at least twice a week I used to get a visit with this mite squawking 'Man Mamer, Man' as soon as it appeared.
Daughter would say 'you started it' and disappear!

xx

Liz - he is a wonderful man. a rock. Very down to earth which is why this threw me.

However he adores his g.daughter and is very proud of his g.son as they are of him.

I agree she will always remember that dance.

The bond between g.parents and g.children is so lovely if it is allowed to flourish. We are not the only proud g.parents going by GR :-D

Oh my word, you do have him well trained Chris, or else you found a real winner from the start. What a lovely thing to do for his granddaughter, no wonder she was crying tears of joy.

Those moments will stay with her forever.

Just found out OH took a Michael Buble CD with him and asked DJ to play a particular song whilst he danced with the bride.

He said she had her arms round his neck and he sang the words to her when suddenly tears rolled silently down her face (this was the girl who had not stopped smiling all day) he asked if she was OK, got a nod - then a big smile - 'I am so happy Gramps'.

The song - The way you look tonight. Her happiness just runneth over. <3 :-D

Sorry if I am boring everyone but I had to share this one as I can just picture it.

It Is sad Liz - dreamt earlier this week of her. We were somewhere and I know there was dancing - we weren't just laughing and talking - wakened feeling so happy.

She was taken into hospital again on Thursday.

Oh bless him, he wants to share everything that happened with you but not the cold, that's good. Hope he gets rid of that soon and you can enjoy hearing all the gossip and see more photos.

I hope your friend will have an easier time and be comfortable, bless her.

I look on facebook every day to see news of one of my friends in America, she had to have a leg removed recently, after being in and out of hospital over the past few years, and then her kidneys started to fail, and more complications set in. Her family think she is near the end but she rallied a while back so there is still a little hope. Her sons are in the States, her two daughters are here in Norwich and not really able to afford to visit her. So sad to lose friends but as we get older so it goes on and we have to treasure the memories.

Am hoping also Liz - she has not been too good so far Monday/Tuesday - rang this morning but have to ring back.

The wandering nomad arrived home at 2.45 a.m. this morning - took himself to spare room - terrified of me getting it. His wakening hours have been non-stop talking!!! :-D <3

ENDING ------OH rang immediately after service - sounded chokey and informed me that HIS g.daughter was the most beautiful bride ever.

OH's birthday today - caught up with him later - he was really surprised by the large red rose and hotel presented him with two bottles of wine.

In spite of having a cold it did not go to bed until 2.00 a.m. and at midnight his cavorting on the dance floor was halted by a whiskey put in his hand and Happy Birthday being sung. Had a quiet day today............................... :-D He knows most of g.dau's friends since they were 4 and 5 yrs old and they all call him Gramps. He dances like most dad and g.dads do

Received 3 photos from Bride this afternoon and she is lovely - gorgeous of her with Groom and she is looking up at him - talk about love. I want son to make it my screen saver. Sent them immediately to sick friend.

He is home Wed night/Thursday morning. If he still has his cold he shall be welcomed home by the spare room ;-)

It was a lovely day yesterday, a little windy in the afternoon, highs in the Limassol area of 30.

I was going to put good luck message to the couple on yesterday but we had to go out in the morning looking for new outside lights with the same dimensions as the old ones, when we failed to had to high tale it back to take the old ones apart and rub them down. We've had the painters here for 8 days painting the outside of the house, the boundary walls and today the metal work including the old lamps. By the time we'd finished and I'd filed split nails we were already late getting ready to go out with friends.

Hope all went well and they all enjoy the rest of their holiday and they quickly send you photos so you can see what a beautiful bride she was. :-) <3

How lovely that your OH has been able to be so fully involved with this wedding day.

What special words were chosen for his gift. I'm sure he was thrilled.

You come on here and tell us as much as you want about your grandaughter's wonderful day.

ChrisofWessex Report 15 Sep 2014 10:37

Just had a phone call from the Bride - had me teary!!!!! Did not expect that - says she will ring again when she is a Mrs.

Found out what reduced OH to tears. Cufflinks have his initials and todays date on one side and the other says 'grandfather of the bride'.

Sorry if I go on about this wedding - unfortunately only so much son wishes to hear and my oldest and last bosom friend is in the final stages of cancer. We have kept telling her she wants to see photos and g.son is under instruction to see one or two by email asap.

I have to talk to somebody and it is thee.

2dn UPDATE - Well today is the DAY - I am there in spirit. At 3.30pm our time my Miss becomes a Mrs. She has always been a caring girl. We are so fortunate with our two g.children.

I sent her an email late last night - not expecting her to check this morning but she had and said it was a lovely email to wake up to.
