Is anybody out there in Chatland in credit to either or both of these...I have just had my Gas statement and I'm credit for nearly £500 and the Electric for about £350.. Can they hold your money like that??? To me that represents about 6 weeks pension...Do you think like I do,,that it's wrong??? Be glad to see your replies..
I don't think this is one the "boss" won't put out is it??? <3 <3 <3 to all.....LES.

Les
You can ask for your money to be refunded. It used to be anything over £80 you could get back.
That may have changed now of course.
Why not phone them and find out.
We have had money refunded in the past.
Good luck

We pay on a monthly basis and in the summer months we are often in credit . This seems to work its way out though over the colder months .

We have had our monthly payments reviewed though several times to bring the credit down .this was especially when we got our new shower running off the gas boiler rather than having the electric one and this reduced our electric consumption down considerably .

Your suppliers don't seem to be looking at your accounts on a regular basis

we have not paid a gas bill for 2 years now, when the first one came telling us we owed them nothing , we phoned to ask why ,how could that be ? they told us they owed us money , again we asked how could that be ,as we have always checked the reading with the bill ,they said they had checked our account and they had been over charging us . about every 6 months now my husband writes and asks them to check it again , and they send a letter saying we still owe them nothing .... we are with british gas , for central heating and cooking ..iris :-S
19 sept 2014 we have just had the first bill for 2 years. £ 68 , we will pay it tomorrow. iris :-)

It probably depends on who your suppliers are. We pay monthly by direct debit to British Gas and Npower and we are sometimes in credit by the end of the year. If it is anything over around £100 they have always credited our bank account with the over payment. If it's a smaller amount they just adjust our monthly payments.

If you ring them up I'm pretty sure they will refund you.

Although I'd be inclined to agree with Joan regarding Iris's situation and put some money aside, I do think that if you have several letters from them saying you owe nothing then I would keep them and I would think it would be difficult for them to come back to you at a later date saying you DID owe them something.

we are keeping the letters they send , plus copys of the letters we send them . I don't think they will have a leg to stand on . but I do agree it is very odd.. but don't worry we do have money put aside ..iris

We pay by direct debit monthly - and like other suppliers,(telephone, water, oil) they assess our accounts yearly and change the amount up or down taking any credit into consideration

Claim it back and have a party Les, they shouldn't be getting interest on money you could use better!
