All I can say is NEVER be scared of a phone call.

What can they do?

Threaten you, so what. They are not standing on your doorstep.

I would suggest you get an answer phone, especially one that you can record calls on as you speak. That way you have a record of any threatening behaviour.

Sorry to say, I am a mouthy cow, and anyone threatens me, I come right back at them. No one intimidates me. ;-)

We also just leave the answer phone on. Quite scary to get a call like that though so hope you are ok Ann. The scary bit is that he was quoting your address as well as your name.

We just keep the answerphone on all the time now, we're so fed up with the frequent nuisance calls. I'm going to record a message saying we don't take cold calls, but please leave a message if you're friend, family or your call is important and we will 'phone you back asap.

have edited one of the comments there re calls from this number

"They channel overseas calls to UK through Wavecrest as mentioned by ( edited name of poster) They simply rent different numbers whenever they want. The 01258965081 is a fake number. That block of numbers has been held back from allocation. I would guess the line went dead because he hung up on you. Threats of UK Police action would have no affect on an Indian resident. Hard enough to get action on UK callers. "

I just received a telephone call from 01213187136 - very unnerving indeed - I googled the number and see lots of people are complaining about this number - it's a Birmingham based number

He started off by saying "Are you Ann *******" - which I am, but refused to confirm, asking why he was calling me - he persisted over and over - you are Ann ***** aren't you - he then gave me my postcode and address and kept refusing to say why he was calling - I informed him all calls to my number are recorded and he would be reported to the police [they're not] but this did not deter him - in the end I just left the phone on the table and could hear him continuing with his you are.............ad nauseum - the he rang off

that's the third such call I've had today, but put the receiver down on the first two

I reported it to 101 and they advised me to ask my service provider to block the call, which I have now done
