Thanks Elizabeth, still at home atm, o.h. didn't feel like driving yesterday so we postponed leaving till later today. At least he took me out for a meal last evening as I didn't feel like cooking, I was disappointed not to go away yesterday but will go today even if I have to do the driving myself.

Thanks Uzzi, yes it's a different feeling to the one when he first died, even tho his death was expected as he had lung cancer.

Off to Derbyshire again later today so will catch up with you when I get back after 5th October.

Wishing a Happy Birthday to Purple Dad.

Funny how we miss them more as time goes by. Thankfully we miss them with love more than raw grief. I often wish I could spent time again just sitting on the banks of Hanwell canal chatting with Dad, I know I would be asking a lot different questions then I did then.

thinking of you Liz xx <3

you would be 104 if you were still with us!

It's over 24 years since my Dad died, in January 1990, but oh how I wish I could have a chat with him, tell him what I have found on the family tree and of the relatives I have met that I didn't know before. To tell him I walked the streets of Buckingham last year, round places he must have known like the back of his hand, and those places in Gawcott close to where he grew up too. To see him with his beloved grandson, my son, a man now and settling down, it would be a wonderful thing.

The longer he's been gone, the more I seem to miss him, don't know why. but I do wish I had asked him more about his life in the Army, and the other people in his extended family. I don't think I appreciated him as much as I should have, he was a rather reserved man, didn't show his feelings as we grew up altho he did love us I know and the pleasure he got from spending time with my son was the best gift I think I could have given him.

See you one day Dad

lots of love,

Lizxxx
