He has decided that as I am so weak after past 3 months lark and that my immune system is very low, that he has introduced Yakult with the tender loving words 'you will drink this'. Only been taking it a few days so would not expect miracles.

Have you taken this liquid and do you feel better for it?

Hi Chris, just today I have been searching for foods to boost OHs immune system too. Our Pharmacist is going to do some look ups for us.

Let us know if the drinks are helping you :-)

That's a thought Barbara, our surgery has also a pharmacy. As I said too early to know yet on Yakult.

When I was in hospital and not eating, my daughter (then deputy manager of a respite care home) arranged for me to have some very concentrated drinks - there is Fortisip, and Fortijuice which is non-milk. She says you might need to get a prescription, not sure if you can buy it over the counter. I may say that on another hospital stay I saw people who need help with feeding drinking it with enthusiasm!
I should say I was taken off it as I got better, too much sugar for diabetes

When my cat had some sort of gut infection the vet said he could prescribe some very expensive vetinary stuff to for after the very strong medicine or I could give the cat Yakult.

It must have worked because he got better.

Elizabeth - I was offered them in hospital when I had my long holiday - tried all the flavours and didn't like any!

Well Sharron - what is good enough for the cat is good enough for me. I aqm happy with that.

One only has to look at the vetinary hospitals and practices to realise that only the very best is good enough for our animals.

This is only one opinion and may be wrong, but interesting reading.
