big row over some photographer called Tanner following the Prince while his Nanny walks him in a Kensington park

now surely there are large gardens in Kensington Palace? why take the risk of taking him to a public park in this day and age? he won't know if he's in his own garden or in a park

You would think they be more security conscious with all the terrorist threats around

Kay????

Kay???? Report 2 Oct 2014 19:17

They are trying not to cossett him behind high walls and to intregrate with others ,,,but he like any other child has the right for someone to speak on his behalf be that his parents and it maybe he would say,,,,,,""Back off I dont want you taking my picture"",,,,,,every other child has the right to object, so the same rule must apply for him,----prince or no prince,

Why should he not be allowed to walk where there are other people without being followed and photographed? Any 'normal' parent who decided that their child should only be walked round their own garden ( however big) would be pilloried for being over protective and not allowing the child to socialise.

I agree with Rose - fgs 'we' have moaned for years about the monarchy being remote and out of touch. The only way it's going to survive is to show a more modern face and common touch and I think they have done a pretty good job in the last few years - at least they're trying.

I was just thinking that with all these terrorist threats he'd make a great target for some nutcase

Kay????

Kay???? Report 2 Oct 2014 19:49

He would have had body guards while out,,and I would imagine some form of hat,,,plus right under peoples noses is often missed and people milling about going about their buisness would least expect him to be in the park,,,,,,,,,No one else has come forward to say they had seen him.

The public have been treated well with seeing him,,,,,,,,let him grow up embracing them rather than sticking two fingers everytime he shows his face,

I think it is just a warning that they will be trying as far as is possible for him to lead a normal life, starting NOW, and won't put up with any interference

Ann .its a dangerous world we live in ,.the family might want a normal life .but they are so high profile its just not posible .The royals have got huge gardens to take themselves & family out .common sense should be first & foremost ..keep safe .& still get out & about enjoy the fresh air

Thats my worry Ann. Yes he should be able to be taken anywhere BUT theres always the nutcases/terrorists factions who could target hm

I am sure that any parent who suspected that their child was being stalked, by a photographer, or anyone else, would take action, and seek the protection of the law, through the courts if necessary.

While the Royal family do have access to acres of private gardens behind high walls, it would be unnatural for a child to be so isolated. Never seeing the public going about their business, or other children at play.

The Royal babies have traditionally been taken for walks in Kensington Palace Gardens, and other Royal Parks by their nannies, accompanied by discreet security.

Princes William and Harry both enjoyed this freedom.

I understand the terror threat, and that the third in line to the throne is a prime target, but that doesn't, and shouldn't, stop the Queen and other senior Royals going about their business in public.

It was obvious from the outset that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were determined that their child would live as normal a life as possible.

When they lived in North Wales the were frequently seen playing on beaches, attending the cinema and other venues unannounced. The Duchess often did her shopping in a local well known supermarket, noticed, but not approached.

The time has passed when the Royals hid behind the palace gates, or on large estates, shrouded in mystery. Prince William has brought a breath of fresh air into the Royal family, and I think he will want his children to grow up aware of, and connected, to the common people, as he and his brother are.

I hope Prince George will continue to enjoy his walks in public without being stalked and pursued by a photographer out to make a fast buck with an exclusive.

Tec.

don't forget the Queen as a child was allowed to play in a nearby garden .......... and made a lifelong friend because of it.

there really is nothing new about Royal babies being taken into the parks ............... and leading as normal a life as possible.

If he was cosseted and never allowed to play outside his own garden, and was always surrounded by security ...................... everyone would then be complaining about THAT!

I'm torn on this one!

Yes, Prince George needs as normal an upbringing as possible, in line with both Princes William and Harry, but if photos are taken and published then terrorists can soon plot their movements.

Security is fine, but can it withstand a determined attack?

Tecwyn - I could not have put my thoughts on this issue any better than you have in your post :-)

AnninGlos Report 3 Oct 2014 08:29

I think the worrying thing was that it is thought the photographer had plotted his previous movements so that he knew exactly when he would be in the park. It is a warning to his body guards I think that, small as he is they have to be as alert as if he were Catherine or William. If one person knew his movements others will too. And now it has been well publicized who knows what person (terrorist or unstable person) will be thinking along the same lines. They need to make sure he is not taken to the same place the same time every day. It is good to see him leading as normal a life as possible and difficult to know where to draw the line. I am sure that his body guards would have been alert to this though.

That photographer has apparently been "stalking" members of the Royal Family for some years, in the sense of finding out where they are going and taking unwanted photographs.

It seems that he has been warned off more than once, but maintains that it is his "right"

He then sells the photographs to the highest bidder.
