about two minutes ago......

Me: Hello

Her: Hello, good afternoon, is that Mrs (mangled version of our surname) ?

Me: Yes, it is, and I already have solar panels.

Her: Oh

Me: Yes, and please take me off your list, because I get 'phone calls about them every day

Her: Oh

Me: And are you aware that you are breaking the law? I'm on the do-not-call list.

Her: Oh, very sorry, I won't call you again.

Phone: beep,beep,beep,beep

Me: lots of words that I can't put here, because I'd be RR'd

Might be interesting to mumble nonsense to them or pretend you think it's someone you know and tell them all about a fictitious relatives medical problems :-D

lol

I often do daft things, like speaking German, or just gibberish. DH keeps repeating "I can't hear you, I can't hear you".

But ~ we really do get a 'phone call every day about solar panels! Fed up with it. It seems the "do not call" list doesn't apply to non-Aussie callers.

:-( :-( nuisance phone calls.

A very good idea to mention the "Are you aware you are breaking the law",
to which I would add,
... "please delete this number from your database because if you call me again I shall report you".

I just say "I cannot understand what you are saying - I am not English"
OR
"this is a private telephone line - are you willing to pay £5 for using it for business purposes"

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 4 Oct 2014 23:11

I've done all of that.......... told them I already have solar panels, told them they are breaking the law, asked them to take my name off their list, I've pretended to be a visitor who doesn't speak English....... but they keep calling!

I'm not going to waste my breath on them any more, I'll just hang up.

I had one this morning - he actually said he was calling from Mumbai - about my computer :-|

I'm afraid I told him I didn't have a computer and I was fed up with organised scammers bothering me all the time with some lie about something I don't even have - then put the phone down on him.

Use a shrill ear piercing whistle - good for those filthy callers as well as cold callers.

Just make sure you have a nuisance caller on the line.

The 'Telephone Preference Service' only works on calls from within the UK

All these calls that do get through are always from somewhere like India.

I either hang up, tell them I am not interested or swear like a fishwife at them, depending on my mood.

Often a good thing is to let them go on an on, making a note of the company then report them to your phone provider. My main gripe is the company who phone every year when my Sky repair plan is up for renewal (it is on auto renewal by the way) and they call claiming to be Sky. They do get abuse after about the 3rd call...... :-D
