War would be an exception and he would get as all the others got a demob suit, which is more than you get now. You hand in your service uniform and walk away in your civvies. In war time however and during conscription the uniform was worn most of the time. Now it's only when you are on duty so you are in civvies at least half of the time. |

This is normal procedure. You are given your uniform (officers buy theirs) so it belongs to them, you have no right to it or to wear it once you have left the service. It is just on loan to you whilst you serve. |
