Another mouth to feed!

Barely enough money to feed ourselves and now that little black cat that everybody thought belonged to everybody else has been on my windowsill trying to catch a bird in the climber up the wall.

The plate of meat that wasn't quite up to the exacting standards of he who once was a stray himself and has never been spoiled or treated like a little prince and certainly doesn't think he is one, much!

That was eaten with alacrity before OH came in and she had to hop down and hide. I have a bag of biscuits given to me because another poor deprived pussy up the road didn't consider them good enough.

She can have those. My Desmond used to eat what the others left when he was a stray

More trauma if I get her to come in, just like when he came in. Oh dear, here we go again!

You softy, you <3

I think we should have a bet on how long before she's in the house!

A nice little friend for Desmond.

Will you call her Molly?

I expect she will be :-D
I presume Desmond doesn't mind her in 'his' garden?

Poor old chap. He just wants a quiet life with lots of cuddles.

Unfortunately, the problem when I have had more than one cat has not been territory, it has been me. They all seem to be very much in love with me, apart from Idi who was OH's cat.

I served my purpose when I was feeding him as a stray and when I caught him and brought him in but after that I was just one of the staff when the adored one was about.

You mean only Idi treated you like staff?
All 3 of mine treat me like staff or 'paddling' fodder.
They will sit on the seat behind me and claw at my arm or shoulder until I give them attention.
I was in the embarrassing position today of, before undergoing an examination, the doctor looked at my belly, then studied my arm and said 'Cats?'
'Ummm, yes', I said (I thought, when he looked at my arm, that he was looking for needle or self abuse marks) 'One of them is very affectionate when it suits him' (when the b*gger hasn't disappeared for 4 days) 'But he has unretractable claws'

When I got home, I realised Mr Unretractable Claws had paddled all over my belly yesterday, and it was a mass of puncture marks!! :-0

Mond has his claws cut. Vet usually does it but I did them with the dressmaking scissors last time.

I have to do his knots, sort out anything sticky he might have on his feet and even wipe his bum if he is not well so he doesn't object to my cutting his claws \nd he doesn't use them.

He does like to lie on the crook of my arm like a baby and to put his paw on my face so I would rather they were blunt.

He used to sleep on the bed and I woke up one morning with a bit of a cheesey smell under my nose. He was asleep with his paw on my top lip!

Would anyone like another cat?

Sis-in-law has just had new carpet put in the whole house........ she got up this morning and the cat had "marked his territory"...... in every room!

I guess he didn't like the smell of the new carpet..... and sis-in-law definitely doesn't like the smell now.

:-(

Sharron Report 8 Oct 2014 08:24

Of course he marked his territory, he is a cat, that is what they do when something strange happens.

Yes, it stinks, but, if she leaves the windows open, it won't stink for long..

When this kitchen was put in, fifteen years ago, my Thossy led me out to the kitchen when it was first in and we went round together and had a look in each cupboard.

He had a walk about up on top of the cupboards and was happy in his mind that I, head of the pride, had accepted it so he could do the same.

I didn't bother when I let OH in and have regretted it ever since the way he eats!

Sis-in-law has had that cat for over 17 years, he's an old moggie.

He's never done anything like this before.

If he does it again, he won't get any older.

Sharron Report 8 Oct 2014 11:49

Only too aware of his failing faculties I expect. Just reassuring himself of his territory.

Don't tell Desmond I told you this but he spends a lot of time being cuddled. OH has a long lap which is preferable to having to share my short lap with a big belly any day. Anyway Mond likes to lie on OH's lap with his belly turned to the side while OH tickles and rubs it. He gets very relaxed and now he is old, on a couple of occasinos he has peed across the floor. We only have the wood so it is easy enough to mop it up after but he could quite easily double as a fir extinguisher!
