Welcome to the boards Kerry, you won't be able to view birth certificates without purchasing them, but you may find exact birth dates on some baptism records depending on location , eg Ancestry has London baptism records and some others for certain dates.

Freebmd.org.uk is a good site to look for births from 1837 to about 1960 or so, once you find the birth you can order the cert from the GRO online.

if you get stuck there are plenty of people who will help you get started if you post a query on the Find Ancestors board :-D

hi all, new on here, is there a way to actually view birth certificates please ?
