My name is on FB, and some photo's of cats and flowers, but no secrets :-) Nothing that a good GR researcher couldn't find elsewhere or that I wouldn't tell you if you asked lol.

I have come across a few people who I know slightly via the '6 degrees of seperation' thing, but I think most people are aware of the privacy settings now (I wasn't when I joined mindyou).

A good rule is never post anything you would be unhappy for your worst enemy to know ;-)

I post under my married name but don't have details of where I live. I suppose I could be easily found as one of my friends is my sister, who has never married and her name is unusual.

I do most of my postings in secret groups so my wall is pretty boring

I use FB daily and keep in constant touch with friends and relatives...however, I only post what I am happy to post. Anything not for public consumption stays with me. I don't have anything to hide but I draw the line at posting anything too personal.

I'm not under my real name either - Facebook could have a field day with my name :-D

well, I do wonder about that :-)

How would Facebook know if it's a made up name? Unless it's something silly, like Rumplestiltskin.

I use a shortened form of my first name, and my middle name as my surname!

I even have the wrong birth date on there :-)

I actually have 2 accounts on there ............. one in a name known to my relatives and some close friends, as a means of keeping in contact with them

............. and one in a made-up name, that I use on some site pages. That has no other information at all, and most of the places I go to are actually closed groups ....... also known as secret groups :-)

Although I do note that FB is going to get rid of all posters with made-up names.

I did get a shock a couple of years ago .............

............. I'd met a second cousin for the first time, although I knew several of her sblings and half-siblings pretty well. Then we had a couple of contacts on FB though the "known" name I have on there.

A couple of weeks later, I went on to an internet site where I can get the scores for ice hockey ............................. an ad showed at the side of that page with my new cousin's photograph and saying she used such-and-such a site :-S

We had a long discussion on the phone about it .................. but figure it was FB that made the "connection"

It hasn't happened since with her .........................

although I do know that every time i look at expedia or hotels.com, I get told how many of my contacts use that site :-S

How much personal information do you put there?

I'm not comfortable with this!

:-(

I do use Facebook, but it's not my real name, and there's not much about me there. I first got it so that I could keep up with my niece when she spent a year in Canada.... I can't remember the last time I looked at it.
