Yesterday I called an ambulance and took my friend to hospital. She had a new hip last May and yesterday evening it popped out. She was in immense pain and was eventually transferred to another hospitals traumatology department. After nearly seven hours I came home. As my friend does not speak Spanish I left the hospital my phone number.

At 5.25 this morning the phone rang. I leapt out of bed half asleep thinking it must be the hospital. I answered the phone and a voice said " hello madam, my name is Gavin and I am ringing you from Microsoft". I stopped him there, and after a few choice words from me I don't think Gavin will be intentionally calling me again.
Half an hour ago when I rang the hospital my friend was still on a trolley in Emergencies waiting for a bed.

Hi Mersey

Just a shame for Gavin that he chose 5.25 in the morning to ring me, he's obviously in a different time zone to me.

My friend is bewildered as everyone around her is speaking Spanish and she can't understand anything that is going on. They have a translator but only one for the whole of the hospital you are supposed to take your own. A lot of the staff do have some English but after someone sued them reference something medical that got lost in translation they are not allowed to attempt to help you in your own language. I think that is fair enough. I will visit her later x

I hope your friend gets the treatment she needs to fix the hip problem <3

As for Gavin maybe someone will dislocate his fingers so he cannot use a phone ;-)

Gavin's number, should you have any desire to call him, is 002103195026. There's a bit about it on the Internet.

OFITG. That sounds a good idea.

Hope your friend is doing OK and has been settled in.

Having read this thread I thought I'd do a check on a couple of silent phone call numbers - thought you'd all like this comment I found on an 0123 ......number:

usual asian accented guy calling about car accident containing two people from this address.
I said yes they both died.
This put him off his line for a sec so I told him I didn't need any help as I had shot and killed the other driver and as now on parole.

****** idiot then asked what gun I had used!!
Told him as I was a special forces policeman!! I used my hand gun.

No kind of drivel seems to put these types off.

Re last line - how very true!!!!!!!!!!

Love it namelessone but as you say nothing seems to put them off. I went to see my friend earlier, still in Emergencies waiting fo a bed on the ward. Her hip is back in place now.
