	A man knocked on my door this afternoon. He was recruiting people to spend £1 a week on the lottery for the local hospice. I explained to him that I could not commit myself even to that because we had been treated in a very cruel manner by the DWP. Rather than give me sympathy he said he quite understood because he had been in a similar position and enquired as to whether we had enough to eat because there was a food bank to which he had had recourse and that the food was good. He offered to come back but I asked him not to as we are coping but thanked him and he left. This is how I would have behaved I hope. A drop of help is worth a gallon of sympathy and he was offering what help he could without pushing it.
