Fool, if you think it's over
'Cause you said goodbye
Fool, if you think it's over
I'll tell you why

New born eyes always cry with pain
At the first look at the mornin' sun
Fool, if you think it's over
It's just begun

TOO MANY MANAGERS WITHOUT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
WHEN ONE MANAGER/SUPERVISOR LEAVE INSTEAD OF REPLACING THEM THEY SEPARATE THE TEAM PUTTING MORE ON THE MANAGER WHO DONT KNOW WHAT THEY DO THEN IT TURNS TO PROBLEMS THERE NOT SOLVED IT THEN BECOMES BIGGER THEN TOO LATE TO RESOLVE IN A FRIENDLY MANOR .

Ann, I hope your reply was suitable :-D

3 months notice - and they won't recruit before you leave?

Surely the higher management can train them?
Oh no, in this day and age, the hierarchy are too much 'above' knowing what others' do. Their job is just to lay more work on for the lower grades :-P

Good Luck Maggie you seem luckier than me. I gave my notice in 19th September to leave on Christmas eve. They say cant advertise my job to I leave. Can I come back and train the new person up? I am retiring

My actual line manager left over a month ago - just after my list of 'acceptable' absences was sent to me. She'd had enough, no support from her superiors, and actually agreed with me - more admin are needed. She also had very little say in me 'hearings' - but knew she had to put things from a skewed point. She managed to go without much notice (she'd found another job within the council)
However two of her superiors are now our line managers, and the one who 'manages' me is under the (false) impression that if she writes it down, it will be followed.
Neither of them know how to do our jobs, and the other one thinks we should be chasing clients for money. I informed her that I wasn't paid enough to be a debt collector - that was our line manager's job :-P
I also pointed out that the wonderful 'new' system - been in place for over a year, still doesn't work, and we've had no training on it - shows people as paying, if the name of the delegate is changed!!

New line manager is due to start at the end of the month.

Such a shame that you now have no job yet your inefficient superior still has hers.

Hope it can be constructive dismissal and that she is demoted!

Good luck for Monday.

Well done Maggie. I really can't understand how your line manager has got away6 with their attitude and/or your welfare people. I have worked for both local government and Civil service and welfare was always excellent as was HR. They were always wary of following proper procedure. Enjoy your work break and regain your health. :-)

OFITG - the letter was written in a constructive dismissal claim way as I intend contacting ACAS, but as my stress hasn't led to depression, but physical problems, the latest ones in May & June - Arrhythmia and Gastritis, it may be difficult. However, to leave the managers wondering brings me a glow :-D

My doctor has told me on more than one occasion to leave the place.

I'm hoping he'll be sympathetic and sign me off for a couple of weeks, so I don't have to train anyone to do my job.

maggiewinchester Report 18 Oct 2014 12:41

Agree Sharron, it's like a class system - the hierarchy (the majority of whom got dogs when told they could 'work' from home) have no idea what the admin do, and things 'they' don't want to do are shoved onto the admin. Our line manager didn't even 'lower' herself to sit with us, but was more than happy to tell us what we 'should' be doing. She had one course to do - we have 10+.
