That's terrible! So why was Eldrick banned from here?

I miss him and his wit.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 20 Oct 2014 09:22

totally agree Joy

JoyBoroAngel Report 20 Oct 2014 09:21

I think what was done to Eldrick was shocking
and I would class that as trolling at its worst

he was persecuted in his real life by a total Nut
he even had a letter containing white powder sent to him

and the policeman investigating was also persecuted :-( :-(

I was totally disgusted :-( :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Oct 2014 21:46

sorry, but I do not think that what happens on GR comes near the definition of trolling

much much worse used to happen on the sister site Friends Reunited, between about 2007 and 2010, and they were true trolls.

what I find upsetting is that some of the people who have harassed others on here are still on site, and still don't accept that what they did was classed as harassment!

we all have strong opinions about certain topics ................. and we should be allowed to debate those with freedom,

but people should not be driven from this or any site by others

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 19 Oct 2014 16:46

The Justice Secretary Chris Grayling, is just another government minister who loves to fly kites, and that is precisely what he is doing with these proposed new laws. There are already 3 main pieces of legislation on the statute book to deal with harassment and stalking - and these are:- .

The Protection from Harassment Act 1997, The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, and The Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

What the Justice Secretary in conjunction with, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Police, should be doing, is ensuring the current laws are rigidly enforced, they should stop throwing their toys around, arguing about what defines harassment or stalking, and he should stop trying to win over voters, by flying kites designed to give the impression, that the government is doing something - coincidence he is doing this in the run up to a general election ;-)

As least if someone is talking about me, they are leaving some other poor person alone.

Dermot Report 19 Oct 2014 12:21

I’d much rather read the torn corner of a Tabloid Newspaper in the loo than knowing what an ignorant troll is ranting about me online.

Guinevere Report 19 Oct 2014 12:18

I really hope those who have made threats to kill or rape people in the public eye get called to account and jailed in some cases.

There really is some 'orrible stuff out there.

There´s a world of difference between diagreeing with someone´s opinion & verbally abusing or threatening the person who disagrees.
