Hello Kathleen

Yes, unfortunately, you do have to pay. if you click on 'Upgrade' on the very top line of this page you will see details of what standard membership covers and what is covered by platinum membership.

If you are not a member of other sites, then a message posted on the appropriate Board on GR, will usually elicit some very helpful responses

Kathleeen, in case you are not aware the following site has some census data which is free to view.

It covers 19th century censuses. I believe Cornwall is complete. You may be lucky with the searches you want.

And before taking out the higher subs on here do consider looking at other sites using the 14 day free trial.

FindMyPast - a sister site to Genes. Has lots of great records, but since the new upgrade does have some issues. I used to love this site.

Ancestry - Fantastic records, but very good if like me, you have London or Lancashire ancestors.

Do not know about the Geneoligist.

All these sites are adding new records all the time.

But do beware, if taking out a 14 free trial, to ensure (especially with FMP) that you tick the box to confirm that you do not want take out continuous membership, and once ticked check daily, as this tick had a habit at present to disappear!!
