Our hard wired burglar alarm and a battery powered smoke alarm both burst into life at midnight last year. I blamed it on radar probs at Robin Hood Airport as had seen an awacs plane there and I understand their electronics get serviced there. Next doors doorbell rings but no one there. There are fone masts approx. qtr mile away as well and I don't trust them

Probably a tiny blip in power supply.

That power station in Oxfordshire is out of action following a fire so I expect there is a bit of switching about being done which had told lies to your appliances.

As all will know we had a new oven installed Wednesday. Yesterday OH mowed lawn and came in to make lunch. He informed me that I was to peruse the oven instructions as the fan was on in top oven and last time it was used was Saturday.

He then hung out washing and informed me fan had stopped - Ok a blip - these things happen.

Am in bed as I have pseudomonas again and at 7.00 p.m. I was watching Bradley Walsh when all of a sudden my air cooler burst into life with all buttons glowing and fan on full speed. Not thinking I thought I had used the remote instead of tv but I hadn't. Haven't used cooler since beg. of month and the remote was in the drawer of bedside table. Using remote switched off.

Couple of hours later explained to OH what had happened and I tried to switch cooler on using remote through the wooden side panel of drawer - no that did not do the trick and then it dawned on me - when remote was in drawer and drawer shut - the thickness of drawer is about 1/2" and then there is a 1/2" thick side panel of chest.

How did the air cooler switch on? There was nothing lying on or close to remote.

In both cases it were fans switched on. I told OH if the 10" fan switched on during the night I was out of here :-S
