Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 31 Oct 2014 18:03

My vet has closed down cos the owner in his 80,s has a beloved wife with alzheimers.

He lives over the main surgery so rather than sell the practice with all its upheaval he has decided to close

Our lady vet was an associate of the main surgery and operated our local branch.Animals for investigation etc were taken to the main surgery after the local branch hours closed. They would get what they needed at the main surgery including any small ops .and be brought back to the local surgery for pickup

Our vet was marvelous with our cat mirabelle who started to show signs of not all well in Feb,she finally was sent on her way 7th July

I was in a panic when I heard they were closing on the 30th sept as still not got her claim form back!!! I rang them and was told its all in hand and we will send the forms direct

PET PLAN has now paid up

BUT although we won't get another domestic pet we still have HAROLD the tortoise who is around 50plus in age and would go about this time of the year to weighed and assessed for winter hibernation with a vit injection to tide him over

Pets who had ongoing treatment would be referred to another practice BUT its sad to see this one closed down

I knew the lady vet for nearly 40 years and speaking to her she is not knowing where she is going now

its all very sad, but I appreciate the vet owner has to do what is right for him, he will continue to live over the main surgery because it would be too much to move his wife

very sad Shirley I hate changing vets, but the owner is doing right in not wanting to move his wife. A shame he couldnĀ“t see to rent the surgery out mind to the lady vet.
Harold will be okay being weighed by others but you have to now find a vet you can trust. Good Luck
