As with the baked beans, sometimes the smaller portion is all that you need and doesn't leave you with a bit hanging about.

Maybe it would be better to think that pound shops give you more choice of portion sizes for your money rather than just saving you money.

I know it's a con.
I spotted it years ago when I bought a box of maltesers in the pound shop.
I opened it up to find it was less than half full :-( :-(

Most major manufacturers now produce specials of their best sellers just for the £1 shops.

They look the same, are packaged the same, but at not the same size or have any many items inside.

IT IS A CON....... ;-) ;-)

I just assumed the pound shops were for a higher class of shopper than the 99p shop.

Sue,
I must be getting old, being a Scotsman and not realising I should have gone to the 99p shop!!
Thanks for the reminder.

The tiniest tins of baked beans are in the pound shop. Just the size I need.

One tiny tin is enough for beans on toast for one.

On a TV programme the pound shops admitted that some of their items were lower weight. As long as we know I don't see that it matters. Sometimes for example a box of chocolates will be a pound for a box lighter than those sold elsewhere But to some people it will be a good buy gettins some of the chocs they like for less.

One of the pound shops locally has things in it now that cost more than a pound. when I queried it the girl pointed to the change in name which now says 'most things only a pound' or similar.

There are lots of things out there to trick you. Its a good idea to look at the weight as well as the price, as there are so many variations.

Robert, maybe you should have gone to the 99p shop instead of the pound shop. :-D

Bought a packet of Rice Krispies Squares from the £1 shop then saw packets in "M" supermarket for 99p.
The £1 shop packet contained 4x 20g bars and "M" contained 4x28g bars so you don't always get a bargain in the £ shops.

I believe the smaller bars are made specially for £ shops.
