Member Since: June 2005 Posts: 8,791 Send Message	Sylvia ~ no way in the world would I go to Flemington racecourse on Cup Day! Too crazy & crowded for me. As they say........ "The race that stops a country".... I think every town in Oz has lunches on the day, attendees are 95% women, all in their finery. :-D I won some money :-D $15 on the cup, and over $100 playing the slot machines :-D :-D Some of us were asked to enter the "Fashion Parade"..... including me, and Himself! Just before parading, we were asked who "dressed" us....... I had to laugh, because the women were all honest, lots of the flashy outfits came from Vinnies Boutique (The St Vincent D'Paul Op Shop)........... and when DH was asked who dressed him, he said "my wife" :-D Neither of us won anything, but it was fun. I didn't get pickled...... I was up at 6 this morning. :-D And....... it was very sad that two horses died.... they think one had a heart attack, and the other was spooked by an idiot waving a flag.

	Not the best end to the day for two of the horses :-( One horse died following the 154th running of the Melbourne Cup, Australia's most famous horse race. Seventh-placed Araldo was put down after suffering a serious leg injury in a freak accident. That came after the Japanese-trained favourite Admire Rakti collapsed after finishing last in the race won by German challenger Protectionist.
	Researching: I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"
