No I have't..

They sent me a letter explaining that the licence ran out at the end of October and that I was to renew it by then.

I just forgot to do it.

As for paying by monthly direct debit. I don't pay anything monthly if I can possibly avoid doing so.I put the money by and pay things as they come. Can't keep track of loads of little things going out.

That won't work Sharron :-(

It didn't work for us in Germany....... and it wasn't our TV, it was the landlord's!

Sharron Report 5 Nov 2014 07:48

Bit extreme!

If the man knocks I will have to go to the door wearing a hat with corks dangling from it and say I didn't know I needed one.

I seem to recollect that if a TV set was battery powered , it didn't require a licence......

dunno how it works if you had a charger plugged in, at the same time! though......

...Well I don't know.

If Google vans can scan your road, detectors might be about.... Then again, they'd soon be lost in all those lanes, so the odds are in your favour.

When we bought a TV for the static caravan in Sussex, OH corresponded re. the need for another licence, when we already had one to view TV at home in Kent.
Eventually they relented and said we didn't need to buy another licence, as long as we didn't watch both TVs at the same time.. :-S

OH took the cash card with him today because I wanted some cash withdrawn.

At the moment I am not coping too well with admin I have been carrying out for years so something new has very little hope of being carried out efficiently.

We did not, of course, have to buy a television licence for nineteen years and I forgot to get one before the end of last month. They rang up today to ask me to pay but the bank card was somewhere else so I have asked them to call again tomorrow when I will pay them.

I was advised to refrain from watching the television until I do because they can't guarantee that an inspector will not be in the area tonight.

Quite brazenly, I have been watching TV all evening because I am like that and because I have never seen the detector van round here anyway.

The television is still on. I hope they are not on overtime!
