Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 5 Nov 2014 22:31

Following on from our brothers funeral on the 1st OCT one of my nephews picked up on brother Alan being the lead singer of the London group The Invaders in the early 1960,s

Alan was the lead vocal and the group entered the ITV show Ready Steady Win which was broadcast from Manchester .They were second to the BO Street Runners but although they didnt get a recording contract from it they did make a record and had lots of bookings after . One of the judges in the final was Brian Epstein

Sadly two of the brothers who were the founders of the group got located to the midlands with their parents in 1965 so the group broke up .

My nephew tried searching on the internet for info and by chance found a website for Manchester and emailed them to see if they had any info /photos etc . One of the group brothers responded and was so pleased to make contact and sorry he had missed Alan by whisker as he had just found his current info .

He was able to tell us too that sadly his brother had died this year and they had been looking for the members to try and arrange a reunion. Sadly thats out now

BUT he has loads of photos of the group with lots of info that he has shared via
Facebook

Its lovely to see our brother in his late teens enjoying his singing career and hearing what a good singer he was . I know they made a demo disc and mum would play it over and over but we dont know where Als copy went But the guy still has his copy somewhere and will share it with us

He is just as chuffed as we are to be in touch but sorry he missed speaking to Alan by a whisper

All this because of the internet :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Funny you should mention 1965 Shirley. I have just been chatting on Facebook this evening to a lady I haven`t seen since 1965.

I discovered her a few weeks back whilst searching old workmates names on Facebook search.
Ooops!...talk of the devil she`s just this second messaged me.
I sent her a birthday E- Card, its her Birthday today. She`s gonna tell me off I think for the naughty message I put within it. :-D :-D

Better go and face the music I suppose . byeeeeeeeeeeeee xx :-D
