Maggie you must have used your polite voice 'takes no prisoners'. It worked fast though.

It's a council house, Merlin, so they decide who does what.
Over 4 years (not including this one), they've (various contractors) changed my boiler twice, and cost me 15 days in leave :-| :-| :-|

Fortunately (?) I'm off sick at the moment - though not the best time to be unable to have a shower and freezing cold :-(

Man's just gone!

6 minutes - and he used my loo in that time!!.

I also had to clear the coats so he could get to the fuse box.
....not sure if he noticed the chain saw on the freezer :-S

I've just written them an e-mail.
Not sure whether to send it or not.

Hello,
I had my boiler serviced on Tuesday 4th November. After the engineer had left, I realised the room thermostat was no longer working. The engineer came back and offered to bring me heaters or to turn the water and heating so they worked together. I opted for the latter.

He said the thermostat would probably be fixed on Wednesday.

Tuesday night, the heating was on constantly, and the noise from the boiler working kept me awake. I phoned and asked when someone would be around to fix the thermostat, was told Thursday or Friday. I asked if the heating/water could be turned off, this was duly done.

I phoned this morning, only to be told the wrong bit had been ordered, and someone would be out on Monday. I objected to this, as I am well aware the thermostat could have been ordered and delivered by the Wednesday, Thursday at the latest.

I was then told someone would be out today, but no time could be given.

I am waiting in anticipation.

Meanwhile I take a quick look on the internet, to find Screwfix do the same thermostat as the one I have for all of £12.49 - probably less than the extra gas/electricity used in attempting to keep my house warm on Tuesday night.

If it is beyond the realms of possibility for one of your men to go to Winnall to pick one up, I will do it for the small sum of £50 - the extra to cover the bus fare, my time, the use of coal and logs to heat my house and the use of my brain cell on your behalf.

Regards

Oh. My. Goodness.
Just phoned the heating company, to see what time they'd be out to fix the thermostat.

Girl the other end:
'Could you hold?'

3 minute wait....

'They ordered the wrong part. They've ordered the right one now, could they come out on Monday?'

My response -' NO'
'I've had no heating or hot water since Wednesday, I'm off work sick at the moment, but will need to go to work on Monday. I don't want the heating/water turned on to work together, as I can't afford it, and it's too noisy'

I went on: 'They could order the correct bit off the internet, get it delivered tomorrow and fit it tomorrow.'

Poor girl:
'Could you hold?'

1 minute wait

'They'll be out some time today, but can't guarantee a time'

So they have the part - but not the labour.
I had visions of this - everyone likes to finish early on a Friday, but I've heard it's to get really cold on Sunday

:-(
