Sammy reminds me of a cat we once had, Mickie.

When moved to Mevagissey, Mickie was about 5, so she hadn't been brought up in a fishing village. We lived about half a mile from the harbour. Every morning, Mickie would stroll down to the harbour as the fishing boats came in, and would be given/steal a fish, which she would bring home.
Our (the family's) job was to then boil said fish for the cat - she never ate it raw.
Once cooked, the gas was turned off, fish left in the pan. If we weren't quick enough to put it in her bowl, once the fish had cooled down Mickie would lift the lid, remove the fish and eat it!!

The 10 year old me followed her down once (at 5am) to see just how she got the fish, and to apologise if she was stealing.

She'd sit just out of range of the fishermen - and one of them threw a fish to her - which she caught - the fishermen cheered!

I spoke to one of the fishermen. Initially, they'd thrown a fish at her to scare her away, but when she caught it and casually strolled off with it in her mouth, they were so impressed, they took it in turns to throw her a daily fish :-D

They thought she was a stray, and found it hilarious that she bought it home to be cooked!

Lovely. Wipes watery eyes.

The ducklings on the building - I think that man catches them every year. :-D

Why only ladies needing tissues? The men I know have feelings too - or I wouldn't know them!
