I wondered where Anne was on Sunday as she is usually in uniform with her family. It will be very emotional being near the Cenotaph where that soldier was murdered.

My son used to be involved when he was in the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

ALL our Remembrance Services at Cenotaphs all over the country take place on November 11th

Today was just a memorial service in churches.

Princess Anne will be in Ottawa at the National War Cenotaph on Tuesday at 11 am ...........................

the very same one where the young reserve soldier was murdered a little under 3 weeks ago.

Yes..It's good to involve the young people. Many in this area have family or friends who have served in recent years, so perhaps that helps them to understand more readily.

Mild and fair here too, but rain came almost as soon as service was over.

Many young people joined Veterans and others at our town War Memorial.

During the laying of the wreaths local school children read the names of the fallen from 2 World Wars as recorded on the memorial, then read the names of people who had died in conflicts since.
Lastly the names of all who had died in service since last Armistice Day were read.

Later we looked at the wreaths and floral tributes.
A man who died in 1917 was remembered by his son and his family.
I always find his tribute particularly moving as he probably never even saw his father.

I've just got back from the Rememberance service. I couldn't beleive how many people turned up. Where did they all come from? :-S I didn't think the village had that many people living in it.

A girl stood and said a prayer and was nearly in tears. There were a number of kids in their scout uniforms. And some young members of the sea cadets. As well as all the old codgers who we owe so much to.

But, obviously, our thoughts go to the ones who weren't there. We will remember them.
