Dear Sylvia


I‘d like to apologise for the unintended offence our omission to add a poppy emblem to our website has caused.

We concentrated on including poppies and paying tribute to our fallen heroes on our newsletter and our Facebook page this year and, quite honestly, had not anticipated the disappointment of not also including the poppy emblem on the Genes Reunited website would cause.

By the time that we realised our mistake, we were too late to make a technical release to our website. We can see by the reaction to this news on our community boards that some of our members have found this difficult to understand but I can assure you that it is the true position.
As a longstanding company, we greatly value the support of our members and it was clearly in our interest to resolve this issue so believe me when I say that if we could have added a poppy to the website late last week or even early this week, we would have done so.


Rest assured that this has made us look at this differently and you can be sure that poppy emblem will be returning to the Genes Reunited website in November next year.

I do hope that the length and detail of my personal response has demonstrated how seriously I have taken your email.

I have been saying for at least the last 2 years that I believe they are running GR down, and will force those who wish more services than the free tree building programme to join FMP ...........................


when BS bought GR, they had to promise the Competitions Board that they would not dissolve GR ................ but if there are no members, then they are absolved from that


so I firmly believe they have been trying to make the site so bad that we will all leave.

Phil is no longer with GR ......... he's working elsewhere in BrightSolid,


otherwise known as BS :-)



If you read that other thread which has been going since Oct 30, you will see that the "reason" given is that putting a poppy on here requires a "technical release", and "we do not have time do this before November 11th" ................. said last week :-S


We are expected to be satisfied with the poppy field on FB, AND the fact that the newsletter emailed this weekend to those who receive it also has poppies on it.



If you feel strongly about it, may I suggest that you email them, and voice your disgust and anger

No, it is not the fault of the frontline staff, it is the fault of upper echelon management .................. but maybe the message will get to them if they get enough complaining emails to that address.



I've also posted on the FB page complaining about it, and have had several comments added to that.

There has been nothing on Phil's Blog on this site since 2012. In fact there has been nothing on any of the blogs for over 18 months. I think GR are running this site down and hoping we'll all join Facebook.

Their acts and commissions over placing a poppy on the home page on this site - can only be described as a disaster in public relations :-(

I've just been on my FB acct.
GR are posting stuff today using what looks like last year's logo... complete with POPPY!

They evidently remembered to change their background and profile photos on their own FB page .
Whoever runs their FB acct remembered!
