I've eaten frogs' legs, but I won't be rushing out to get more. If things are said to "taste like chicken" I'd rather eat chicken.

Cane toads are something else, big ugly things with poison glands. The professor in the story won't convince me that all the poison has been removed. :-(

Allan ~ have they made it to your part of the West yet? I know they/re up north.

Scozz,

Not down here, although one or two 'migrant' toads are found in trucks, but up in the Kimberley's and the Pilbara, yes, they are a problem

Yummy Toad in the Hole! :-D

Don't laugh, Mayfield :-)

Poisonous sausages containing toad meat are being trialled in the Kimberley (Western Australia) to try to protect native animals from cane toads' deadly impact. The Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation has been working with the University of Sydney to develop baits to train native animals not to eat the toads. By blending bits of toad with a nausea-inducing chemical, the baits train the animals to stay away from the amphibians. Researcher David Pearson says trials run in laboratories and in remote parts of the Kimberley region of WA are looking promising, although the baits will not solve the cane toad problem altogether

Every time it rains here, the cane toads come out. You definitely don't want to walk around in the dark with bare feet.

There are lots of lakes at the local golf club....... they've tried lots of things to try to discourage the toads & get rid of the eggs. A never ending job.

Would you believe the greenies tell us to kill them humanely? By that, they mean catching them (how?) and putting them in a plastic bag, then put the bag in your freezer. No way on earth would I put a poisonous toad in the freezer with food.

Do the greenies also want us to put flies & cockroaches in plastic bags?

We've got a spray bottle near the front door, it contains disinfectant (cheap stuff), DH does a toad run when the toads come out in the evenings.... he's being humane, keeping them clean :-D
