I too am on FB and think its Brill, and I do frequent the GR site occasionally and I can assure you that there are many GR paying members on there.
And, they have voiced their opinion quite vehemently on the lack of not having so much as a single Poppy on here the main site.
So don't go thinking nothing has been said on Facebook GR.

and now someone should email GR at

[email protected]

with the link to this thread .................

'cos they do NOT look on these Boards, so will not see all the names on here.

I'm having my own battle with them re the poppy, on FB. on the Poppy thread, and by email :-)

I did send them the link to the Poppy thread so they could see for themselves how angry people are.

Now someone else needs to send the link to this thread :-)

I am on Facebook but have never used GR page. I may have missed something, but I fail to see how it is FB fault that GR have not displayed a Poppy on this site. Their explanations for failing to do so are unacceptable in my opinion.

Today is Armicicst Day. Each of us can remember and show our respect in our own way regardless of any contribution from Genes Reunited

At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

Polly - the posters mean GR's page on Facebook, not facebook its self. Facebook is just a 'platform'.

The GR marketing team run it. That includes adding photos etc

40. I'm usually a "looker in" and not a poster, but felt I must add to this thread. So many of us research family members affected by wars and the small act of adding a poppy to the site would have been a mark of respect and appreciated by many of us.

Budgie Rustler - we know that much has been said on the GR Facebook page, but only because other GR members have posted on here. Genes have not bothered, yet again, to explain to their members on their own site their reasoning for not portraying the poppy. If they had bothered to let us know via their announcement board this would not be such a big issue. Although it would have raised a number of complaints.

I have emailed Genes with the link. Pointing out that many of the names on here that are not users of Facebook are, what I consider, to be major players. If Genes continue to upset so many with their intransigence then they will eventually collapse. If that IS the plan then they should let us know so we don't waste our money propping it up.

GR is making the point that they have been putting tributes on FB

If you are on FB, then go ahead and POST your annoyance on their page... let them and everyone else know how you feel on the matter.

They have posted 3 separate photos on their timeline.
On 8 Nov, then on 9 Nov and new one was posted this morning.

(My comments have " likes" so at least I know that others agreee with us)

EDIT:
My FB comment was to the point.
The GR community DESERVE an apology.
IMO, social networking works both ways

Hi everyone,

Thank you. Your comments have been noted. We are paying tribute on Facebook and in member emails and apologise for not displaying the poppy on the website.

Regards,

Shelley

Timing of apology?

GR clearly do not wish any adverse publicity from it's members via FB

jax

jax Report 11 Nov 2014 11:39

Do Gr not get it?

What has paying tribute on Facebook got to do with this site?

The Facebook page has gone down hill over the last couple of years and hardly anyone posts on it, unless they haven't got a sub for here, so ask for help there... Or to complain about something

Oh they may get a few replies to their daily post, but that's probably because it ends up on their newsfeed.... Not that that have gone to the page to post on it
