Shirley, thinking of you as you remember your Mum. It's sad that your Mum couldn't have lived longer to spend more time with you all but I am sure she watched over your little grandson and all her family and was there to welcome her son Alan when he left this world in August.

It felt strange to me to become an orphan at 49 when my Mum died aged 79. Dad had left us in 1990 also aged 79. I am hoping I can hang on a bit longer than that, to get the card from the Queen, or more likely Prince Charles, would be an achievement.

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 14 Nov 2014 16:16

Today is our mums birthday / she would always say that Prince Charles shared her birthday not the other way around !!!!

mum was born 14th November 1909 and died may 1980 just 10 days after her grt grandson was born

She knew he had arrived down in Wiltshire where our daughter and SIL where based in Army married quarters and was staying for the late whitson weekend with our brother Alan and his family is Plumstead SE London

Alan passed away on the 31st Aug 2014 so we all hope he is with mum ,and dad and his three elder siblings who have also passed

Mum was born 14th Nov 1909 so maybe could have a few more years with us as her elder sister was almost 103 when she passed in 2008

RIP MUM love you loads and you are always in out thoughts and prayers

You never think you will lose parents but as time goes by then the natural events come sadly
