Has anybody on here tried them?

We quite like the idea of trying them but they are expensive, especially if they if they are not likely to produce.

Then again, if they are extremely productive and I don't like the exotic mushrooms, I am going to be moaning about that too, just like the marrows.

When we lived in Essex we used to get mushroom compost for our garden and we always had a crop of mushrooms from it too.

That was a bit of bunce but I am thinking very carefully( you may be surprised to read) before I shell out for some mushroom spawn to go into the logs I have scrounged off the tree surgeon who was working next door.

Some years ago we were bought a mushroom log. Followed the instructions to the letter and expected it to produce something in 6 months to a year. Nothing. After 2 years I gave up and just left it where it was in the garden and suddenly in the third year it produced a reasonable crop of shitake mushrooms. But that was it........we never got anymore from it and I worked out that each mushroom had cost about £1.

Perhaps others have been luckier but I wouldn't bother again.

Sharron do you have a Home and Bargain shop near you?? I have bought an indoor mushroom box kit and at the moment they are only £1.99...I did pick just the button mushroom one as I have never tried them before :-)
