I heard a good one the other day.

This woman got the usual call about a problem with her computer and spent 20 minutes or so playing along, pretending she didn't really know what she was doing. At this point she told the guy to call back in an hour at which time her husband would be back from working at the station.

Oh, said the guy, is he in the ticket office? Oh no, said the woman, he works at the Police Station as a detective on computer fraud. At which point the phone went dead.

My nephew build it so he can fix, and he is a lot cheaper.

Don't know which scam it was but had a call today asking if I was Mr........
No, says I.
Are you the woman who is the other party to the phone?

Well, they didn't seem to understand as to why I thought that a bit rude. said I wonder if they thought I was rude as I put the phone down before them :-\

Would they have got it if I had said they were sexist instead?

Yesterday I got a car accident one, she seemed to answering me but I'm convinced she was automated. Next time we get one of those I told my OH to panic and get them to not tell anyone else about the accident as they don't have a driving licence. ;-)

I told them once that I was jusy going upstairs to get the computer and did the steps on the floor with my feet.

She must have thought I lived in the Empire State. We sat with the phone on hand-free as she shouted at me for trying to fool her.

I do, however, think it very sad that somebody who speaks at least two languages, which is more than I do, should have to resort to doing that to make a living.

I tend to answer their mutterings using my now nearly-defunct Gaeilge language.

Begorrah! That puts the caller in a spin!.

She certainly is persistent!

They probably use the Internet lines to phone us suckers, so relatively cheap

Sharron Report 21 Nov 2014 10:20

Yesterday a lady called me about the problem on my computer, I told her I was going to get it and put the phone on the side until she got fed up.

She rang me back this morning to aske me why I didn't come back so I put the phone aside whereupon she carried on asking me why I didn't come back until she got fed up and put the phone down. Now she has rung me back yet again.

Wouldn't like her phone bill!
