'Computer games present a wonderful opportunity to know ourselves; a slow bombardment of opportunities for self-reflective thought.' (Radio 4 - 24.06.2012).

Nothing new in politicians playing games - some play games where those who should win are always end up the loser ;-)

I too play it - at home. Never did I play it at work - not even when the 'system' broke down, and definitely not in meetings, nomatter how boring.

Chances are, if we 'plebs' were caught playing it during a meeting, we'd be disciplined or sacked. I'm certain the managers wouldn't hold an investigation, or even 'look into' who dobbed me in!!

I play the game when I need to switch off from everyday problems or take a break from researching WW1 casualties' families for our local history group.

I can certainly count beyond 3, oh and I also solve equations (for fun) to keep my old grey cells working.

So, an MP was playing a child's game. Hmmmm, doesn't exactly instill an awful lot of confidence in their abilities to make rational, informed decisions affecting, potentially, millions, does it?
Mind you, it does at least demonstrate an ability to be able to count up to at least three - something a lot of players of Candy Crush may well indeed struggle with.
Before the age of "faceache" et al would he have have been playing "pin the tail on the donkey"?
Such puerility!

Interesting that his constituency is one of the highest UKIP target seats.

It seems to me that there is something wrong with the systrem, if people running the country have to attend meetings lasting over two hours but where they have nothing to do but listen.

Surely such meetings should be better organised. Unneccessary waffle should be cut out and the paricipants should be actively involved. Perhaps their presence is only needed for part of the meeting, so they could be doing useful work elsewhere.

True, Dermot, but fascinating to see how these members of a government whose leader is always going on about 'rewarding the hard workers' really behave, why (if) they deserve their salary - and what they really think about those they represent.

Not a very important item compared to some awful national & worldwide events.

So soon after Penny Mordaunt's (Tory MP) wonderful 'joke' speech too!

At least, whilst doodling, you can listen!!
What really got me, was 'they' didn't appear to be worried about his playing games, but were concerned about how the Sun managed to photograph him!!

He should have stuck to doodling on a piece of paper.

Tory MP Nigel Williams was caught playing Candy Crush during a Work & Pensions meeting. So glad MP's take their jobs - and our pensions seriously :-|
