How do I convince OH that it is pointless having the heating going full blast in the room we are sitting in & leaving the door wide open. |

If you mean the internal door, then perhaps he is hoping the rest of your home will benefit? Although it won't save money, how about having some form of heating on in the other rooms. Then you can turn down the heating in your sitting room. |

If there's a draught coming from the door onto a chair make him sit there, he may then shut the door of his own accord :-) mindyou my door to the living room is open, I feel shut in otherwise so maybe he feels the same? |

We have warm air central heating and we leave all the internal doors open it balances the heating as upstairs doesn't have the same force coming through the vents. We find it very efficient. |

Lol Elizabeth, and Gwen, I am always a Michelin man in the cold weather, I put on so many layers even indoors as we only have a gas fire to heat the whole house, open plan staircase so some heat gets up from the lounge. There are some of those horrid little gas heaters in the bedrooms but they dry out the air I find and make so much dust. The one in the kitchen/diner doesn't work anymore but we do have a portable halogen heater to use as well if it gets really cold. I wear thick socks and soft fleecy boots indoors to keep my feet and ankles warm . Sometimes I even put a scarf round my neck lol |

Spanish houses are built to keep the heat out, not in & because they have stone walls & ceramic floors they tend to be very humid. |

Can you insulate your roof or ceiling somehow, wisechild? |

I can understand your problem then, and also how you are 'dressing' for bed. I wear layers too. I have just ordered some nightshirts as an extra layer over my pjs and of course, I wear bedsocks. All I need is a Wee Willie Winkie hat lol |
