There was a young fellow from Salisbury,

Whose manners were halisbury scalisbury.

He wandered around Hampshire without any pampshire.

Till the Bishop of Salisbury said 'Walisbury'.

Work that out then. It does make sense.

There was a young fellow from Sarum

Whose manners were harum scarum

He wondered around Hants without any pants

Till the Bishop of Sarum said "Warum"

I cheated, Sharron :-(

No I didn't Google but I do have a couple of books of Limericks.

Whilst the general explanation makes them appear to be educational tomes about the origin of the form, the actual limericks themselves are downright rude, crude and funny (at least to me)

The limerick that you posted was one of the 'educational' ones pointing out some of the old names of English Counties.

Still bl**dy good, however :-D :-D :-D
