I don't usually bother with Christmas day - I fend of the daughters quite well, and would rather have a 'get together' in the summer.
However, this year elder daughter is working (maternity unit).
I was going to have the 2 grandsons from 2pm until 8pm Christmas day.
Now, Christmas dinner is at 1pm. and I have daughter, grand daughter and grandsons to cater for.
Daughter is a better cook than I, but they'll get what they're given - and I don't 'do' Christmas pud until tea time. I haven't got one, so ice cream will have to do :-S

Am I ready/prepared - no.

Rose, I think the lovely times with small children at Christmas are so special and when our youngsters grow up it doesn't seem so magical and we feel melancholy about times past.

I get the same feeling as you but just do my best to go with the flow knowing that the effort is appreciated and Iit will be over soon enough.

Try not to stress yourself and just do what you feel able to do, I am sure you will feel better by The Day

Bah humbug lol!!

Guinevere it looks lovely, glad you enjoyed yourself there :-)

Leslie, sounds like you had fun being Santa, I wouldn't go on my roof if i were you lol, it's not the best ! ( and I don't have a chimney ;-) ) so you might have to do some Santa magic and sneak in via the letterbox :-) ( please may I have a colouring book and pencils or a chocolate medallion, thankyou)

I thought I'd lost mine as well Rose...Blooming awful ain't it...Wednesday 11am it all came back...I did my 16th year as Santa for local playgroup Christmas party...Best day of my year....One young lady I'd not seen before was looking sad so asked what's wrong..."I'm glad I've seen you today..You'll see me but I won't see you again".. When I asked if she was going away her reply was"" NO SILLY--I'll be asleep won't I???"" No answer is there...One young lad got a model car..He brought it over to show me..""That's nice I said,,your a lucky boy".."How does it work" he asked..I looked it over and said " I'm not sure".. he said "well you made it"...Get out of that LES...One of the dad's there came to the rescue....HAVE A HAPPY CHRISTMAS Rose....All will be fine....I still have the costume so if you dream hard enough I may just pop down your chimney to surprise you....WHOOPS!!!! Don't know where to go...Oh well...stay at home I suppose...Hahahahahahaha...Me in a chimney...If I get one foot off the floor I get vertigo.......LOL........LES... :-) :-) :-) :-D :-D :-D

:-D Just had ten minutes, panic chaos and mayhem here. going up to daughters, as many will know for Christmas because son in law is ill and not expected to live to see the next one. Well, it was to be the two of them, the two of us and joined by youngest Grandson Christmas Eve and then for the day Second Grandson and wife Christmas day. We heard today that eldest Grandson, wife and Luke are going to be able to get up for 5 days staying with second eldest but joining us for Christmas day and boxing day etc. food was all sorted so a mild panic as things were added (to cater for dislikes), changed around etc, And goodness knows where we will all be sitting. Still, it is lovely that all 3 boys will be there for his last Christmas. :-) :-)

susan wiv so it wouldn't do to wish you a Happy C. then I suppose? Go on, get a turkey and share it with the dogs. Anyway you have got a beautiful new baby to love you can't be miserable.

Emma, do you perhaps need to download something so that you can send them. I haven't tried on the IPad because I am mostly on the desk top. I love JL cards.
