You didn't Ann :-) and I didn't take it that way, it is just what i was thinking.... there is so much bad news lately that I am even more aware than usual that I am lucky by comparison and shouldn't be moaning.. as in my writing I am my own worst critic in life generally lol.

No of course it doesn't make what you are feeling any less important I didn't mean to convey that in my post. :-)

Rambling Report 19 Dec 2014 13:07

Ann, sorry for the whinge, I know that my woes are very minor in comparison to the huge problems that others are facing, not least all those parents who have lost children this week in Pakistan and the tragic deaths of the two Australian hostages.

*gives self a good shake*

Strangely, despite the big health problem in the family at the moment we all seem to have retained the Christmas spirit. I love Christmas as does our daughter.

Anyway Rose, I hope you are able to regain a little of the pleasure. <3 <3

That's very true Sheila. My mum used to look back on the Christmases she had as a child, with quite a big family of cousins etc, but then again I am sure my nan probably didn't enjoy all the cooking she would have had to do.

I won't say who it was but a few years back I was talking to someone on the phone on Christmas day, and because they had 6 or so people there I imagined they were all quite happily enjoying festivities together, lol turned out that two of them were lying down with headaches, the two teens were in seperate rooms, one was reading, and the one talking to me was sitting on the stairs ;-)

I've certainly got more Christmas spirit than I had last year :-( but not that much...

I do think some of us hark back to past years and remember fondly Christmases 'long ago' and how our parents and family circle made it special, but then I wonder if THEY were thinking at the time 'oh how I wish it could be like it was when I was a child'. There was no 'golden age', just nostalgia for one :-)

Oh dear Cynthia :-( I suppose a lot of it as you get older is that Christmas isn't 'like it used to be'.

Wend, I will look forward to the spring flowers once the days get longer :-)

Have you taken up clairvoyance Kay ? ;-) oh dear that did make me smile ( wryly) though, got it in one!

Kay????

Kay???? Report 19 Dec 2014 11:37

Loads of reasons can just creep up or have been lurking which suddenly burst to the surface,,lack of cash takes away alot of enjoyment,,,lack of no one to share it with,,,,,,,lack of nothing to look forward to on the day. and anything that has to be faced in the new year.
,,,, it can seem like looking in a window of a house party where everyone, but you, seems to be having fun or has a reason to be excited.

Are you going out on invites Rose.?

Wend

Wend Report 19 Dec 2014 11:25

I think you may be right about the weather contributing, I do like 'frosty' lol. Maybe it's harking back to when i was a child and there were some very snowy winters.

I haven't seen the Sally army this year, I think they have already been and gone in the town as there was a big carol event, but will have a look out for them later. Last time into town it was a sole guitarist busking, singing ( quite nicely) songs of misery :-D

Being a Bah-humbug sort of person, I didn't have much of it in the first place!

OH feels the same as you, but then we were concentrating on an extended family get-together last weekend and will be on our own over Christmas.
Its been so mild in most of England, that we haven't had those crisp frosty mornings this year, which puts you in mind of Christmas.

If you can, try going into Town tomorrow when its starting to get dark & see if the Sally Ally are playing carols. ;-)

my 'Christmas spirit' ! No particular reason ( or maybe just a bit of everything ) , just woke up and there it was gone

Anyone else feeling the same today ? It's not like me because I have always liked Christmas :-(
