The dark. Arrrrrrgh.

We spent a winter in Helsinki. You can pad yourself with clothes to keep warm(ish), but the dark is so depressing. The sun peeps over the horizon for about 1 minute. So many times I missed the daylight because I was in a shop or in the loo.

Summer is the opposite........... can't sleep at night because the sun is shining. It's weird to stagger out of a bar with your mates at 2am and it's daylight.

:-D

Scozz, you could always follow the TV programmes and cook the turkey on a covered BBQ :-D

For ourselves, we are going to our daughter's place for Christmas. Only 20 minutes drive away.

Uzzi, I prefer the cold to the heat: at least you can layer up. There is only so much you can remove to keep cool and not be arrested ;-)

A/C is nice but expensive to run :-(

aaaaah, poor you Allan :-(

One of the reasons we moved up here ~ the weather!

Very mild winters, and it rarely gets above 35C in summer........ but the high humidity in January and February knock me about. :-(

:-D

When our turkey is cooking on Wednesday (we have our "big" dinner on Christmas eve) I'll only be spending the necessary time in the hot kitchen........ the rest of the time I'll escape to the air conditioned bedroom! :-D

Well over in the West we hit 37C here last week, and Perth had 39C :-P

Just leave the turkey on the driveway which will act as a slow cooker :-D :-D :-D

Here in the sub-tropical southern hemisphere it's currently 28C in the shade.

:-D

Happy Winter Solstice......... and Good Yule <3

I will be happier when the days are longer, Uzzi, I wish I could just hibernate at this time of year. Books, chocolate, computer and phone and I would be happy.

Hope you will have a good Christmas despite the short days.

If it colder before it gets warmer in the northern hemisphere, does it get hotter before it gets cooler down under? :-S
